Customized solution for underwater drone exclusive SMT production line, Russian project landing

In March 2021, a high-tech enterprise in Russia focused on IT technology and robot research and development proactively contacted H.F.X, informing them that they were advancing a new project for underwater drones and urgently needed to build an SMT production line adapted to special precision electronic components. After a short period of efficient technical communication, both parties quickly established deep trust and successfully achieved their first cooperation.

At the beginning of the project launch, the H.F.X team had limited knowledge of the production characteristics of underwater drones, and this was also our first time undertaking an SMT production line project for such special precision electronic equipment. The customer team was very patient and repeatedly shared with us a large number of practical application scenarios and production process details of underwater drones, allowing us to quickly identify the manufacturing pain points of such products. Underwater drones have now replaced manual labor in many professional scenarios to complete high-risk underwater operations: ordinary consumer grade products can be remotely controlled through mobile phones, transmitting real-time underwater images to help divers detect potential dangers in unfamiliar waters in advance; Industrial grade underwater drones can undertake professional tasks such as underwater biological research and observation, ship maintenance and repair, exploration of marine mineral resources, and underwater emergency rescue. With the rapid growth of global demand for underwater operations, the categories of underwater drones with different positioning are rapidly becoming more diverse. The precision and reliability of the SMT process for the motherboards of these products far exceed the strict requirements of ordinary consumer electronics.

Our technical engineering team maintains high-frequency collaboration with customers throughout the entire process, deeply connects with the actual production details of products, and combines the core PCB motherboard parameters provided by customers for underwater drones with future medium and long-term production capacity planning to tailor a fully automated SMT production line that is fully compatible with special precision electronic production. The entire line is equipped with automatic solder paste printing machines, online SPI solder paste inspection equipment, SMT high-speed surface mount machines, reflow soldering furnaces, online AOI optical inspection equipment, NG/OK automatic sorting and unloading machines, as well as a full range of supporting connecting conveyors, forming a fully closed-loop quality control system from solder paste printing to final product inspection.

For the selection of SMT surface mount machines, H.F.X recommended the JUKI high-speed surface mount machine to customers. This model has a wide range of component adaptability and can cover the mounting needs of various irregular and high-precision special electronic components on underwater drone motherboards. Under stable operation, the surface mount speed can reach 47000 CPH, fully supporting the full speed mass production of underwater drone motherboards. According to calculations, it can stably produce 90-120 qualified motherboards per hour. At the same time, the entire SMT production line is also equipped with SPI and AOI detection equipment equipped with industrial grade high-precision CCD vision systems. From the printing process to the post reflow soldering process, full point quality screening is achieved, greatly reducing the defect rate of the final output circuit board and fully matching the high reliability production requirements of cutting-edge special electronic equipment such as underwater drones.
